Dr. Rajnikant Dixit

Associate editor

Dr. Rajnikant Dixit, is a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from M.D. University, Rohtak, 2004. Following his Postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Health (NIH, USA), he received Prestigious Fellowship award of ‘Ramalingaswami Fellowship’ sponsored by DBT, Govt. India. Currently, he is serving as Scientist (Ramalingaswami Fellow) at National Institute of Malaria Research, Delhi, India. Since Ph.D., he is working in the field of molecular and functional genomics of mosquito vectors transmitting infectious diseases viz. malaria, dengue etc. He is also a member of editorial board/reviewer for many scientific journals. His research work is focused to understand the molecular genetics of the vector competence and innate immune responses, affecting parasite development and transmission. For advanced studies, he established and heading Host-Parasite Interaction Biology Group, at NIMR. Many valuable findings, especially novel molecular immune targets credited to many high impact publications. Recently, first time his group demonstrated that mosquito salivary glands harbors more diverse microbial communities than gut, in contrast to the previous belief, that non-gut tissue may have lesser microbial loads. He is also a receipt of prestigious awards of Rapid Grant for Young Investigator (RGYI), as an independent Principal Investigator.
